This absolutely gorgeous brooch from the mid-Victorian period has a little secret!  Set with natural Old Mine Cut and Rose Cut diamonds in sterling silver-topped 14k, this brooch has a little screw mechanism on the back that allows you to remove the brooch backing and wear the piece as a pendant!  There is an additional screw area on the back on the piece where a custom bail could be applied.  Convertible pieces of the Victorian era were often parts of larger pieces or parures--in this case I believe this was likely part of a tiara or grand necklace that had removable elements to be worn on as smaller pendants, a brooch or earrings.  Made circa 1860.

Measures 1 1/8" diameter.

Not stamped or signed but tested for metal content.

Contains twelve natural Old Mine Cut diamonds weighing approximately 2.40ctw with an approximately .75ct Old Mine Cut at the center.  Also contains eleven Rose Cut diamonds.  Diamonds grade F-I and SI1 Clarity.  Central diamond grades H-I Color and SI1 Clarity.

Weighs 20 grams.

In excellent antique condition!
