SOLD--Victorian Hand Painted Locket Gilt Sterling c. 1880

A sweet, romantic little antique locket that would have held a lock of hair or another keepsake.  Made circa the 1880's, this Victorian locket features a hand painted portrait of a classical dancer set in a foliate frame of seed pearls in gilt silver.  The back opens to reveal a deep compartment with the original glass.  Though made in the Victorian era, this piece has that sort of Rococo styling that was so popular in Europe in the late 1800's!

Pendant measures 1 1/4 x 3/4" not including the bail but including the loop at the top of the pendant.  Contemporary chain measures 18".

Not stamped or signed but tested for metal content.

In great antique condition, all pearls present and locket closes tightly.
