An incredible Brutalist necklace by sculptor Pal Kapenyes circa 1960.  Jailed as a political prisoner of the Hungarian Revolution , Kapenyes served five years and then moved to Mexico in 1960 where he became a renowned artist of the Modernist movement.  This piece is made in pewter and has an aquatic quality to it, with a Mexican jade cabochon held tightly at its center.  It doesn't get much better than this!

Measures 26" length with an additional 3.25" drop for the pendant.  Pendant measures 3.25 x 3".

Signed "PAL KAPENYES".

In great condition and looks amazing on!
