SOLD--Edwardian Sapphire and Diamond Tiara Ring Silver/14k c. 1900
THIS PIECE HAS BEEN SOLD.
I've been looking for one of these Edwardian tiara rings for the store for a loooong time--finally nabbed one and it is a goodie! They are quite rare and not easy to get your hands on. This lovely, regal Edwardian/Belle Epoque era ring circa 1900 evokes a crown or tiara in design. Containing one pear cut natural sapphire and two round cut natural sapphires as well as six rose cut diamonds and one sweet little Old Mine cut diamond set in silver-topped 14k, this ring is sure to be a conversation piece. It will grace any finger so beautifully and truly looks like a jewel out of a fairy tale! Typically these rings tend to be Russian in origin and this one may well be, but there are no marks to identify it as such. This is such a special ring and whoever gets it is going to fall in love with it a little more each time she wears it!
Two things to note: the sapphires--while beautiful-- photographed much lighter than they are in person with the central sapphire being darker than the two rounds, please see the photo of the ring on my hand for a more accurate real-life color. Additionally, this is an old ring and completely handmade and that being said, if you are considering it as an engagement ring--which would be incredible--please be advised that you're going to have to be fairly careful with it. It has lots of prongs and is not a ring that you can put on and forget about. I wear an ring that requires care as my engagement ring and I make it work! But being that careful isn't for everyone so it is something to be considered.
Currently a size 6 and can be resized carefully--I would recommend having our jewelers resize this ring as they do fabulous, meticulous work. The face of the ring measures 15mm at the widest. The pear shape sapphire weighs approximately .32ct and the two rounds weigh approximately .18ct each. They are assumed to be heat-treated. The Old Mine Cut diamond weighs approximately .15ct and is H-I in Color and SI2 Clarity. The band tapers from 2.5mm to 2mm. There are no metal stamps but the ring has been acid-tested for metal content. Contains a small file mark on the shank from where it was tested previously (not by us).
