Early Deco Animal Charm Necklace Sterling c. 1920
This fantastic and whimsical charm necklace was made in the late teens to early 1920's and was perhaps originally for a child. Seven very detailed, three-dimensional charms made of sterling silver hang from a similarly detailed chain, also in sterling. Each charm has its own personality and all are lively--you have a pig, a kitten, an elephant, a rabbit sitting on a chamber pot (!), a camel, a rooster and a...clown. Yes, there is a clown on this sweet necklace and while that may make it a bit more sinister for some of you, there he is. His face is a little scary, but so?! You're a grown up, you can handle it. Don't forget that sweet little kitten or the rabbit sitting on his chamber pot, holding his hat! See, all better now.
Measures 15" in length and came to us extended. Could be extended further as needed. Spring ring clasp stamped 'STERLING'. Charms are not marked, all tested for metal content. Charms measure .75 to 1.00" in length. Beautiful patina, looks great on!
