THIS PIECE HAS BEEN SOLD.

This exquisite locket straddles both the Art Nouveau style of design as well as the Victorian Aesthetic period, both of which happened concurrently in the late 1800's.  Made in France circa 1890, this locket features two swallows flying over a landscape with a platinum bezel set Old Mine Cut diamond.  This is a French piece so it is the French gold standard of 18k and boy is it GOLDEN.  In the Victorian period swallows symbolized eternal love and partnership, as swallows mate for life.  The fact that we see two swallows here adds an extra romantic vibe to an already extremely romantic piece!

Measures 1 1/4" diameter.  Length 1 5/8" including bail.

Stamped with French eagle mark and unknown maker's mark.

Contains one natural Old Mine Cut diamond weighing approximately .10ct.

Weighs 8.2 grams.

Comes with contemporary gold-filled 18" chain.

In very good vintage condition.  Slight discoloration in a small area on the reverse from previous acid testing (we did not do this!).
