SOLD--Art Deco Fede Gimmel Clasped Hands Ring Sterling size 5.5 c. 1920

This fantastic antique fede gimmel ring is at the very latest Art Deco, but it could be earlier!  Gimmel (meaning twin) rings have been in existence since the 1300's but were popular in the 17th and 18th centuries and were comprised of at least two interlocking rings.  The addition of the fede (hands clasped in faith, love or friendship) came in the 1600's, but the design of clasped hands dates to the Roman era.  We love to have the continuation of so much history here in the store! 

This ring is a size 5.5 and cannot be resized.  It is stamped "I.C. STER" and has been tested for sterling silver.  The ring is complete and closes tightly.  The ridged hidden center band is wide enough for engraving a secret message.
