SOLD Vintage Mid-Century Emerald and Diamond Ring 18k/Plat c. 1950
THIS PIECE HAS BEEN SOLD.
This beautiful, vibrant and very high quality ring dates from the 1950's and has a classic three stone design with a little twist--a deep green natural emerald is centered flanked by two emerald cut diamonds set in a platinum basket with 18k white gold band. This one is a beauty guys--she came in with some bigger, flashier rings but my eyes kept going to her. These pics do not do this emerald justice and I know I've said this before with emeralds, but once again I'm faced with the daunting task of capturing the otherworldly glow of an emerald on a stupid mortal's camera! It is not possible! The next time the sun comes out (January 20, 2021) I'll take a video of this ring in action and then you'll really see what I'm talking about. All three stones are of exceptional quality--the color and clarity of this emerald is extremely fine and the diamonds are cut and matched beautifully with superb color and clarity. This face of this ring is somewhat petite but I've found it looks great on both smaller and larger finger sizes. This is a straight-sided ring so you can put a band right next to it should this appeal to you as an engagement ring--which it should, it would be perfect and not one person has ever said they regretted getting an emerald as their engagement ring stone!
Currently a size 6.75 and can be resized as needed. One resizing provided, please allow one week.
Stamped "18K" and "PLAT" with unknown maker's mark, and tested for metal content.
Face of the ring measures 6.5mm north to south and 12.5mm east to west. Stands 5mm from the finger when worn. Band tapers from 1.7mm (shoulders) to 1.9mm at the base of the shank.
Natural emerald weighs approximately .60ct and is assumed to have clarity enhancement as nearly all emeralds do, however as a gemologist my opinion is that it is minor enhancement, if any. The diamonds weigh approximately .30ct each (.60ctw) and grade G-H Color and VS1 Clarity.
The ring is overall in very good condition. The emerald has a couple of very, very tiny fleabites to the table facet junction.
