SOLD-Large Mid-Century Lapis Earrings 14k c. 1960
THIS PIECE HAS BEEN SOLD.
These GORGEOUS and very glam earrings hail from the Mid-Century 1960's and are set with two huge, vibrant lapis cabochons set in a bamboo motif frame of 14k yellow gold. The lapis stones are unusual in that they contain large swaths of pyrite matrix instead of the small freckles we usually see in lapis. This makes for a Modernist art look to the stones which is of course appropriate to the period! The best part? Though these look like giant clip earrings they are actually pierced with omega backs and are done in such a way that they sit high on the lobe the way a clip earrings would!
Measure 1 1/8 x 7/8".
Stamped "585 14k" and tested for metal content.
Each earring weighs 9 grams, but the cantilever of the omega back distributes the weigh comfortably across the earlobe.
In excellent vintage condition!
