Early Rebajes Antelope Brooch Copper c. 1950
Early Rebajes Antelope Brooch Copper c. 1950
This amazing piece of wearable art is a very, very rare, early brooch made by Francisco Rebajes--one of the fathers of Modernist jewelry. Rebajes' story is a fascinating one and more info can be found here. This brooch is one of his iconic pieces that is a necessity for any collector! Made in anondized copper, this brooch depicts an antelope and is made of only two pieces of copper, carefully bent and twisted to form this graceful design. I was THRILLED to find this and have had it for a while as I had planned to keep it, but the reality is that I don't wear brooches and it's not fair to have this absolutely exquisite, historical piece sitting in a tray, unseen by the world. It should be seen and loved and worn often!
Signed 'REBAJES' on reverse.
Measures 3 3/8" length x 2" width.
In excellent vintage condition, pin back in good working order.
