Art Deco Old European Diamond .55ct Engagement Ring Platinum c. 1920
This is SUCH a pretty ring, it is exactly what so many of us look for in an antique engagement ring--hand craftsmanship, stunning detail and a beautiful old cut diamond! This Art Deco era engagement ring holds a .55ct Old European diamond set in one of the most gorgeous platinum settings we have seen in a while. The diamond is graded J-K Color and SI1 clarity--and make no mistake, this diamond is internally completely clean, but age and wear gave it a few knocks to the girdle resulting in tiny chips in one area, thus the SI1. This stone is lively and bright and faces up very white. The central stone is set with north-south-east-west prongs that resemble petals, with each prong having two single cut diamonds set below totaling .08ctw. Then there are all of those exquisite Deco details on the mounting, which really are to die for an much, much better in person. Though it doesn't show as well in the photos, this ring has that beautiful matte patina that platinum gets over many years--which also serves to bring out the detail in the setting. What's more, this setting is packed with design but sits low, so you get all of that Deco loveliness in a truly wearable ring. If someone gave me this ring I would be beyond thrilled it is an incredibly romantic ring! If you had this ring, you could look at antique engagement rings every day for the rest of your life and still feel like you have the best one--it is that good!
This ring is currently a size 4.5 and can be resized as needed. The mounting is in excellent condition and all stones are tight in their settings. Not stamped for metal content but acid-tested for platinum. Please note that the antique box is for display purposes only, however all purchases from Bavier Brook come in an elegant presentation gift box.
Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about this beauty of a ring, we are happy to tell you all about it!
