SOLD--Victorian Foil Back Paste Snake Necklace Silver/18k c. 1870
THIS PIECE HAS BEEN SOLD.
This stunning Victorian paste snake originally started life as a brooch and then was recently converted to a fabulous necklace by the previous owner! Made in sterling silver circa 1870, the intricately etched snake peers through its coiled tail, with one large paste at the head. Attached to an 16" 18k contemporary rolo chain. Foil back stones tend to show themselves off best in low light, so we've shown this piece in several different lighting settings. This necklace has great, mysterious presence and makes a great layering or signature piece for the snake lover!
Snake measures 1 1/4 x 1". Chain measures 16".
Snake not stamped or signed but tested for metal content. Chain stamped "750" and tested.
Condition note: Four pastes have been replaced at some point with old cut pastes. One of these is brighter than the other pastes. Overall there is a variation to the brightness of the pastes due to foil deterioration, so it is not hugely noticeable but needs to be pointed out in case that may bother you.
