Victorian French Chain Necklace 18k c. 1870
This gorgeous French Victorian era chain would originally have been a bit longer with two tassel drops and double chain all the way around. It's been altered, but they've done a great job! We also have the tassels as earrings that will be listed separately. These pieces came like this and it appears to be an older conversion. What they've turned it into is a very wearable, on trend version and as you can see it looks great on! The original braided double chain connects to two ornate slides which are now stationary, with one chain strand connecting the remainder of the necklace. Very slinky and luxe, it's perfect for layering with other necklaces or wear it as your every day statement piece!
Measures 16" length.
Chain is stamped with French Mercury mark and tested. Spring ring clasp is later gold-filled addition.
In good antique condition, with the alteration being stable and well done. Gorgeous old gold patina!
