Georgian Old Mine Diamond Half Hoop Ring Silver/15k c. 1800
This is a classic and very rare late 18th to early 19th Century Georgian half hoop ring, set with seven foil-backed Old Mine cut diamonds in silver-topped 15k gold. These stones appear warm and that is partially due to their color, and partially because of foil deterioration under the stone. Overall the stones are in fairly good shape for a ring of this age, though there are chips to three of the stones as is expected. That's Georgian folks, that is what happens! These diamonds sparkle like crazy and true Georgian half hoops are such iconic pieces that they are a must for any serious Georgian collector!
Stones weigh approximately 1.10ctw. Ring is currently a size 7.5 and can be carefully resized as needed. Not stamped or signed. Measures 5mm wide at the widest stone. Band tapers to 1.5mm. We provide one free resizing with the purchase of this ring.
**Please note, Georgian jewelry must be worn with extreme care. You can get them as an engagement ring or wedding band, but you need to be prepared to wear your ring only very occasionally! Georgian rings should not be submerged in water, should sustain as little impact as possible--so no working out, digging through your handbag, cooking, gardening. Store in the box when you're not wearing it! That being said, if your dream is to have an engagement ring or wedding band from the Austen era, you'll make it work if you plan ahead!
All purchases from Bavier Brook arrive in an elegant box, fully wrapped in fine paper. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions, we are happy to answer them!
