Description

This is a true Retro piece that embodies all that 1940's jewelry design was known for!  The 1940's was a very interesting and unique era in jewelry history, where we transitioned from the Art Deco period into the Mid-Century period.  Designs retained echoes of the Art Deco structure and geometry while becoming bolder and chunkier with a greater use of colored stones, particularly ruby.  Rose gold is the defining metal color of the time and was often mixed with white gold for setting diamonds.  The combination of these elements makes Retro jewelry unmistakable in appearance!  This ring evokes the glamor of the Old Hollywood period and the days of iconic movie stars wearing scads of jewelry on red carpets.  Set with a .30ct Old European cut diamond in a  diamond frame, with a ribbon of old cut diamonds flanked with round cut synthetic rubies (typical of the time period), this ring reminds me of the jazz music and early Modernist paintings that were made during the period.  It is lyrical and interesting, glamorous and finely made and looks nothing like anything made before or since!
